tre Designs would like to formally introduce you to The Contemporary Farmhouse Kitchen! Our client loved the original farmhouse vibe but wanted to give it a little facelift to match their more contemporary style and aesthetic throughout the rest of their home. We strived to create an updated look to their kitchen with keeping some of the original cabinet accents, millwork, and most importantly preserving some of the fantastic soapstone countertop! This kitchen was in need of a fresh coat of pant, new backsplash, island countertop, and cabinet hardware (we love an exposed cabinet hinge - bringing the personality!).
Soapstone can be a hit or miss with some - it is a soft stone that showcases all of the wear and tear throughout it's life, so it isn't for everyone. But man, it sure is beautiful in the right setting. This material brings an abundance of depth and character. With every knick, scrap or water mark those details tell a story and it's a beautiful one to have a kitchen that is loved and lived in!
We had to find the perfect backsplash that had just as much of that "lived in" feel but was current enough to bring the kitchen more along the lines with the contemporary vibe we were after. We landed on a Annie Selke tile from The Tile Shop, with a little flower detail that had such a beautiful artisanal look that really celebrated that country kitchen aesthetic we were after! The sophisticated cream color and the handmade finish really came together and was the perfect fit!
